The Birth, Growth and a general view of the building of a TEARDROP CAMPER TRAILER a (queensize bed on wheels with kitchen)
Somewhere around 2000 I was bitten by the bug and decided I wanted a Teardrop Caravan .
Best way to get one was to build my own, this I did and here is the result.
This little beast was 4ft wide x 8ft long, seemed like a good design on paper but after it was built I was never happy with the shape.
In 2004 I decided that a newer version was the order of the day so back to the net and find a better design. After some time I came to relise that the Cub Modernair was what I was looking for so I set about chopping 2ft off the 10ft length and going out to 5ft wide so to fit a queensize bed, more room to sleep and a wider kitchen.
I have none of the drawings done to get the shape but her are the construction photos.
This was the shape of the Cub with 2ft removed from the centre.
So first off build a chassis
Now that we have some Yellow paint everywhere lets look at a floor
At about this point in time we went down to Melbourne in Victoria for a flying visit and I descovered why Melbourne was in a DROUGHT 'cause they turned off the weather due to the fact that the place was SINKING.
So back home and some more work on the beast
cut out the sides and frame them up with some Tassi Oak ribs
I do love that shape
inside we have a shelf and magazine rack for the headboard and a nice shelf for other stuff backing onto the kitchen
